Do StoreMore metal sheds come with a floor?

The SHED ONLY prices do not include a floor. They include the roof, four walls, doors, and all the necessary ironmongery to erect the building. Additional floor options, or bases, are available in the form of a Foundation Kit or Timber Floor Kit. Details below.

What type of base, or floor, is required?

A prepared concrete base is ideal. If you are building this specifically for your new StoreMore metal shed we recommend you lay heavy builders plastic underneath the base to act as a damp proof course. Slabs, or flagstones, are also suitable, except for the GA Garage units. These 2 main types of self prepared base can be constructed using the below guidelines:

  • Concrete. Construct a timber frame (shuttering) around the area to be prepared as a base. Lay heavy duty plastic in first to act as a damp course. Fill with concrete to a depth of 3-4". GA Garages will need 5-6". Level off with a trowel using a plank to straddle the base. The plank(s) can rest on the shuttering. When fully hardened off (48-60 hours) remove the shuttering. Cover concrete to protect from frost until hardened off fully. This is the strongest method, but is labour intensive, and not inexpensive.
  • Slabs. Clear and level the area. Firm down with a bumper. Lay heavy duty plastic in first to act as a damp course. Lay 1-2" maximum depth of concrete sand down and level off. Lay the slabs (flagstones) dry onto the sand bed. Ensure they are level using a spirit level. This is the most popular method and is very acceptable, particularly for smaller units. You can use reclaimed slabs to keep the cost down, as they will not be seen.

What is a Foundation Kit?

If either of the above options are too labour intensive, or too time consuming, you can purchase a Foundation Kit as an optional extra. This is a steel base with internal strengtheners that divides the floor into box sections. Each of these box sections can be flooded with concrete to construct a very heavy duty floor. As the box sections are all the same depth it is easy to find a level for the floor, simply work from one section to another. Again lay heavy duty plastic in first to act as a damp course. Alternatively you can lay your own timber over the Foundation Kit for a wooden floor. Again, very simple.

What is a Timber Floor Kit?

The timber floor kit is supplied in a strapped bundle that includes the runners and the floorboards. Simply nail it together for the correct size floor. Again, very simple.

What are HilTi screws?

HilTi screws come complete with the appropriate size masonary drill bit that allows you to drill into a concrete or slab floor and then hammer in the HilTi screws. Using the prepared holes around the skirting of your StoreMore metal shed, you have a template to work to. They can be removed with a screwdriver.

Do I need HilTi screws if I purchase a Foundation Kit?

If you intend flooding the Foundation Kit with concrete you do not need HilTi screws. If you intend timbering over with wooden boards we recommend you use them.

Can anyone erect a metal shed?

Yes, they are not difficult. Once the frame is erected the panels simply screw to it. You will need to give yourself a reasonable amount of time, however, as some of the larger units will take several hours to erect. Time consuming rather than difficult is the honest answer.

Do GardenSite erect metal sheds?

We can quote to erect metal sheds bought from us, provided a recognised base is provided. However we do not have national coverage, so please ask first.

Why should I buy from GardenSite?

We offer a minimum 10 years no rust guarantee on all StoreMore metal sheds, 12 years on the Eskdale rasnge, we also have a full after sales support system that will resolve any problems. Furthermore we have been selling metal sheds for many years and have 2 showsites, each displaying a selection. We are not an internet only company that simply buys and sells, with little or no knowledge. We sell with confidence so you can buy with confidence.

How long are delivery lead times?

? Under our terms and conditions we state 28 working days. This is usually more than adequate. In truth the lead times can vary depending on the unit you require and the time of year. Spring, particularly around May, tends to be very busy. Autumn is also very popular. The units are shipped in to our warehouse from Canada and should we sell out of a particular size we have to wait for the next container. If the delivery lead time is urgent we suggest you contact us, stating the unit(s) required. We will be able to give you a more accurate answer at the time by phone (0121) 355 7701 or e-mail info@gardensite.org.uk. However the situation can change rapidly and a delivery enquiry may be out of date less than 24 hours later.

How do you deliver metal sheds?

We use a specialist company that will telephone prior to arrange delivery. The unit will be delivered to your door.

Can I collect the unit?

Yes, with a prior appointment, from just outside Manchester. You will not save any money, but you may save some time. Please contact us.
