There is a tremendous number of options for containing your compost. Some people choose to go binless, simply building a compost pile in a convenient spot on the ground. Others build bins from materials such as recycled pallets, or two-by-fours and plywood. And, of course, there are many commercial bins on the market.

Which system is best?

Our exceptional drum/turning bins show some significant differences in actual composting performance.
The cost of this system can be quite high, and the composter bins are relatively small, but these factors are balanced out by the speed at which drum/tumbler systems can generate finished compost. Under ideal circumstances, compost may be finished in three weeks in a rotating drum composter!

TURNING IS SIMPLE
You need no mixing tools. Make sure the door is closed, put your fingers in the grooves and spin the composter one full turn.
Inside, your new throwouts are getting mixed in as new matter to your compost thus creating oxigen to speed up decomposition and eliminate odors.
The hinged door is removable for easy access as well as for proper aeration and humidity control.

REMOVING COMPOST IS EASY
To dump compost directly onto your soil or garden, just fasten the door latch and roll the drum off the base and into your garden; remove the door and dump the compost right where you want it. Or dump your compost into a wheel barow, cart, tarp, or garbage bag if you want to collect it. To make potting soil, just scoop it out and add it to your mix.

Make sure the door is fastened before you turn the drum.
Open the door... Pull the door vertically and align its hinge with the locking grooves...
Remove the door by knocking it out its hinge from one side.

The liquid fertilizer is collected directly into the base.
