TetraPond
pH Test Kit
|
|
SPECIFICATIONS / PRICES |
| pH
is a measure of how acidic pond water is. Fish do not like
fluctuating pH levels, and need to be kept within a specific
pH range. The only way to determine the pH of the water is
with a TetraPond pH kit.
How it Works
The TetraPond pH kit is a liquid kit, which works by changing
the colour of a water sample in relation to the pH level.
You simply need to compare the colour of the sample to the
enclosed colour chart, to determine the pH.
How
to Use
In order to check the pH level, thoroughly rinse the test
vial out under the tap, and allow it to dry. Then; 1. fill
the vial to the 5ml mark; 2. hold the pH reagent bottle upside
down and add 7 drops to the vial; 3. close the cover and shake
the vial gently; 4. compare the colour of the liquid to the
colour chart to obtain pH value. Always read the instructions
carefully prior to testing.

TetraPond Nitrite Test Kit
|
|
SPECIFICATIONS / PRICES |
Nitrite
is produced from the breakdown of ammonia in the filter. Nitrite
is highly toxic to fish, but is usually removed from the water
by the bacteria which live inside the filter. However, in
new ponds, or if the filter bacteria are damaged, the nitrite
level may become toxic. The only way to know what the nitrite
level is, is by testing the water with a TetraPond Nitrite
kit. Regular testing, especially in new ponds, will prevent
damage caused by nitrite poisoning.
How
it Works
The TetraPond Nitrite kit is a liquid kit, which works by
changing the colour of a water sample in relation to the nitrite
concentration. You simply need to compare the colour of the
sample to the easy-to-read colour chart in order to determine
the nitrite level.
How
to Use
In order to test the nitrite level, simply take a sample of
pond water in a jug, and then use some of this to wash out
the test vial. Then:
1. fill the vial to the 5ml mark;
2. hold nitrite reagent bottle number 1 upside down and add
7 drops, close vial and shake gently;
3. After 10 seconds add 7 drops of nitrite reagent number
2, close vial and shake gently;
4. Leave vial to stand for 2 to 5 minutes for full colour
development. Compare the colour of the liquid to the nitrite
colour chart to obtain the concentration. Always read the
instructions carefully before use. If nitrite levels are high
then you should seek advice as to the underlying cause.

Ammonia Test Kit
|
|
SPECIFICATIONS / PRICES |
Ammonia
is excreted by fish directly into the water, and is also released
from the breakdown of solid waste and uneaten food. Ammonia
is highly toxic to fish, but is usually removed from the water
by the bacteria which live inside the filter. However, in
new ponds, or if the filter bacteria are damaged, the ammonia
level may become toxic. The only way to know what the ammonia
level is, is by testing the water with a TetraPond Ammonia
kit. Regular testing, especially in new ponds, will prevent
damage caused by ammonia poisoning.
How
it Works
The TetraPond Ammonia kit is a liquid kit, which works by
changing the colour of a water sample in relation to the ammonia
concentration. You simply need to compare the colour of the
sample to the easy-to-read colour chart in order to determine
the ammonia level.
How
to Use
In order to test the ammonia level, simply take a sample of
pond water in a jug, and then use some of this to wash out
the test vial. Then:
1. fill the vial to the 5ml mark with the water to be tested;
2. hold bottle 1 upside down and add 14 drops to the vial,
close it and shake gently;
3. hold bottle number 2 upside down, add 7 drops to the vial,
close and shake gently;
4. hold bottle number 3 upside down and add 7 drops to the
vial, close and shake gently. Leave the vial for twenty minutes
to allow the colour to develop;
5. Match the colour of the sample to the colour chart in order
to obtain the ammonia concentration. Always read the instructions
carefully before use. If ammonia levels are high then you
should seek advice as to the underlying cause.

TetraPond Water Test Set
|
|
SPECIFICATIONS / PRICES |
The
TetraPond Water Test Set offers an easy way to check the health
of your pond. Ammonia and nitrite are natural waste products
formed within the pond, that are toxic to fish, plants and
other aquatic life. The only way to determine their concentration
is to test the water, which is why the Water Test Set is an
essential piece of kit for every pond owner. In addition,
the kit measures the pH, or acidity, of the water, which is
also important for maintaining health and condition in fish.
How
it Works
The TetraPond Water Test Set consists of liquid tests, which
alter the colour of a pond water sample to reflect the ammonia,
nitrite or pH level. The sample is then compared to an easy-to-read
colour chart in order to obtain a result.
How
to Use
For All:
1.Fill the Vial to the 5ml mark.
pH: 2. hold the pH reagent bottle upside down and add 7 drops
to the vial; 3. close the cover and shake gently; 4. compare
the colour of the liquid to the colour chart.
Nitrite: 2. hold
nitrite reagent bottle number 1 upside down and add 7 drops,
close vial and shake gently; 3. After 10 seconds add 7 drops
of nitrite reagent number 2, close vial and shake gently;
4. Leave vial to stand for 2 to 5 minutes for full colour.
Ammonia:2. hold
